Ondo Economy: Mimiko Urges Workers To Diversify

MimikoOndo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, has advised government workers in the state to look inwards into other areas they can get additional sources of income, to cushion the effect of the economic downturn in Nigeria.

The Governor made this appeal while addressing the gathering of state government and political office holders during the prayer session on the first work day of the year.

The well attended gathering was held at the open space of the premises of the Governor’s office in Akure, the State Capital.

Mimiko reiterated that there would be no retrenchment of workers in the state, despite the poor economy of the nation, which has made prompt payment of salaries ‎difficult.

Pastor Tunde Adesida led special prayers for the government, workers and residents of the state, to mark the New Year.

Labour leaders in the state promised to be more committed to their duties. They urged the government to look into other areas of generating revenue internally rather than depending on the monthly allocation from the Federal Government.
