The Barcelona superstar enjoyed an incredible year and has now scooped the prestigious prize for a fifth time.
Messi has been beaten by Cristiano Ronaldo in the last two years but has edged out the Real Madrid superstar and team-mate Neymar this time around.
His previous wins came between 2009 and 2012 with the latest triumph indicating his return to the top of the world game. More photos after the cut..
